Default Trim oil level

How do I know trim level ok?
There is no min/max level marks...

By the way, how do I clean that rust you see in the picture and protect the trim hydraulic pump mount (I think it's from the mount...)?

Also, which lub should I use?

Thanks!

There should be min/max mark on the reservoir. look on side near fill cap.

Remove pump assembly and bracket, replace bracket with aftermarket SS.

Use merc or quicksilver trim pump fluid.

Thank you.

I can't find level marks on my reservoir but according to attached image, my oil level is low, I think...

I'll be replacing bracket in the winter but is strange because none of the 862548A1 parts I found while searching on eBay have a base as mine seems to have (rust seen in image is from some kind of bracket base). By the way, I've already completely removed the rust and now pump and reservoir are being supported by one single bracket side/arm, the port one).

Regarding lub, I found I can use the same I use for power steering:
Quicksilver Power Trim and Steering Fluid 92-90100A1

In the image you posted the bracket on the left has mounting for the solenoids while the one on the right does not.

The image also shows the min and max level on the reservoir.

There are aftermarket brackets available including ones made of SS.
