Default Shift Interrupter Switch

Hi!
I have 2000 maxum 2300 SC with 5.0 merc and alpha 1 gen 2.
I have problem with my Shift Interrupter Switch...it dosen't kill the ignition when i shift, so i tought that switch is broken. i just replaced it and even the new switch dosen't do anything. I need to test tomorow that will it got prober ground connection, if that is good what can be wrong with it?

I had switch in my hand and when i pushed it nothing happened. it supposed to shut down the engine if i keep it pushed? right?

Do anyone know where the black wire supposed to ground, where i can find other end of wire if it's ground problem?

actually it's just supposed to cut the engine for a split second so that it can shift....it doesn't kill the engine completely or you wouldn't be able to boat happily between fwd and rev.....you should just hear a slight stumble if anything at all...

Is this the shift interrupt or the emergency shut off switch? ermgency shut off is a red button that has a clip that holds it open. Pull the clip or push teh button and the engine dies.
