that's an ongoing debate on another boating thread I frequent...most pilots believe that if you take care of your engine..it will take care of you....but according to mercruiser....the engine can run all day long at wot.....I however believe that in order for the engine to last a long time..running at 80% all day is better...it's still in the opt. torque range and doesn't seem to make the boat work as hard...plus if i ever do need to run from pirates...I have the confidence of the engine running 100%.....

so..I guess to answer your question...if you ask mercruiser...the answer is yes....you can run the engine at wot all day....however...my opinion is why would you....you will burn up more gas..more oil...more wear and tear than is really necessary......but that's just my opinion..
