Default Reverse Issue

4th time out with our 2001 2100. Pumped the throttle 3 times before starting. Left it at a 1/4 throttle for a second and got ready to back off trailer. Pulled to neutral. Went to reverse. Reverse didn't seem to engage. Put it back to neutral and tried again. Still didn't seem to want to engage and then died as if I shut the key off. Put back to neutral and started right up. Worked fine the rest of the day.
Thoughts as to why this happened? Overheating? Throttle stuck? Just trying to reassure myself it's operator error. Sigh...

Sounds to me like it was just cold. I usually stay on the trailer or at the dock at least until the temp gauge starts moving.

Was the drive raised when you had trouble getting it into reverse? Being a dog clutch gravity wants to keep it in neutral if raised up.

Could be a cable adjustment issue.

Hoping the issue is being cold. Drive was trimmed up some. That could have been the issue as well if I wasn't trimmed down enough.

I'll definitely watch the temp gauge and my trim on the next outing. Good advice. Thanks.
