new exhaust requirements on new boats?

any new brand new boat owners have the above the water line exhausts ports, and the catilitic converter mainfolds?

i'm told they are like $1000,00 each and are shot if they get wet?

what about engine noise, what i've seen and hear in action is like a car with headers.

Not many Maxums with above water exhaust. However to my knowledge the inclusion of catalytic converters isn't exclusive to above water exhaust. From what I understand all new inboard motors are being delivered with catalytic converters now. I am also under the impression they rob HP, however I not an expert on these things.

At a boat show last year I looked at (and loved) a new Cobalt 28' cuddy. It had a big block with Cat's and under water exhaust. The option sheet did list "Captain's Call" exhaust but this boat wasn't equipped with it.
