Exclamation Need a new and improved prop

Hi there,

Thanks to Mike I was able to take my boat out on a 4 hour round trip. My tachometer doesn't work however I was able to get on plane at about 12 knots. Later on I ran into some rocks (ouch) the prop got damaged (will post photos later). Now the steering drifts when I let go of the wheel. Like it's out of alignment in a car.

How do I go about specifying a new or improved prop? I don't know my weight or RPM (tach is out of order), is there an online tool where I can just put in the engine serial number (recently found... see last post) and find an acceptable replacement?

-Thanks Walter

Walter, you can contact Mercruiser to see what they recommend or HillMarine which I’ve heard good things about.

Is the tach working but not accurate or not working at all?

Why not replace it?

Mech said its not worth it, OEM wont fit and he would have to bevel or replace the entire dash. But back to the prop. How do I find out the Ratio and Rotation on ym stern drive.

If you have the serial number of the drive you can look up its ratio. Standard rotation.
