Default Mercruise 4 cylinder carb probs

I have a 2008 Glastron GT-185 with mercruiser 4 cylinder, 2bbl carb and TKS. Have had intermittent probs with idle, starting, etc. just had a carb kit installed and it seems to be running better but after it runs awhile and I shut it off it is hard to start back up. I have to hold throttle wide open or pump it sometimes to get it started. I have changed, plugs, cap and rotor and checked timing. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

A Glastron? But-but-but.....that's not a Maxum.

Regardless, is it running fine aside from the hard-restart? How quickly are you trying to re-start it after shut down? Minutes? Hours?

I'm telling ya, next thing we will probably let Sea Ray owners into the club as well

So let's see, there are 2615 registered users.
2613 of them own a Maxum
1 owns a Chapparel
1 owns a Glastron

I guess they don't have a good forum like we do

well..hard starting on hot after shut off is usually caused by gas syphoning back into the tank...so...if you had rebuilt the carb the new valve in the bottom of the bowl would shut the fuel flow off and prevent it from back flowing into the tank.....then below the carb there should be the fuel pump with a check valve....then on the tank there is an antisyphon valve that also prevents fuel from back flowing into the tank....thus draining the carb.....so..the first thing I'd check if the carb had been rebuilt..is the antisyphone valve on the tank....make sure that's operating properly....or just replace it..should be cheap enough in the long run....

a boat is a boat...if you don't get the answer on your site..maybe we can help here...

Haha, no worries caddyshack, we just like helping so welcome aboard. Hopefully all the suggestions you get will help you with this issue and you will keep coming back for more. Maybe we can even talk you into buying a nice used Maxum if you are ever in the market again :-)
