Default Merc Smartcraft connections

Hi all,

I have an '04 2700 SE with a Merc 5.0 MPI. As I understand things, it should have a junction box for Smartcraft in order to hook up VesselView. I may have some info mixed up here, this is all new to me.

I took a look in the engine compartment (albeit quickly) on the weekend and could not identify the box. I also looked behind the dash and didn't notice it. What exactly does it look like and where is it normally located?

Part 2, I have a Garmin GPSMAP 942xs on the boat so could run NMEA2000 to it for engine data but am thinking having VesselView on my iphone nearby might be easier so I can just leave the chartplotter on the charts.

Voltmeter does not seem to be working on the boat and not sure I trust another gauge or two so having it all digital would be nice.

Open to everyone's thoughts. Thanks

PS. I know this could have gone into Electronics as well but since its engine related....

I would contact Mercruiser and they can provide the details you need. I think some type of hub/bridge is needed.

Thanks for your reply, though I would assume would only be able to tell me how to connect things IF there is a box to connect to for VesselView, but I doubt Merc would know where it would be on my particular model.

Mercruiser supplies the wiring harness so can tell what the connector looks like and where in the harness it is.

Yes, of course...that makes sense. Thanks, I will give them a shout.
