Default Maxum 3000 scr 2007

Hi all.
Please can anyone tell me what this boat is like with the single 7.4 l mercruiser engine as i have paid a deposit subject to seatrial but i cannot find any info on this boat with a single engine as every other 3000 seems to be twin engined. Will this be underpowered? And as anyone ever come across this boat with the single engine?

Sounds like it will be under powered. I have a buddy with a 28' single and he has issues getting on plane. He bough the new 4 bladed props and they help but it's still a dog.

take a couple people with you on the sea trial to simulate the gear load you will expect when you are using it. Take note of how much fuel and water are on board. Both tanks full would be best.

Hey Jay,
I have the 7.4L (454) on my 1994 2700 SCR and it works great, top speed is probably about 30mph or so at roughly 4200RPM. I plane out at 3000RPM and cruising speed is probably around 20mph (estimates on speed, my speedo is broken and haven't put the gps in yet). Standard 3 blade aluminum prop, with a stabilizer fin on the drive. If I were to go any bigger than my boat though I'd definitely want twin 350s or larger. To my understanding, the 2700 was the biggest I could go with a single engine. Not only is the boat big, it has a pretty wide beam.

hey, I have the same setup on a 2800 scr which is 29'-9" long, and if you use your tabs correctly it fly's out of the water with 8 people on board, and will cruises at 26 mph, and WOT at 36 mph.. at 5,000 rpm.

MPI and bravo III

Make sure you have the engine coupler checked and the main transon pin seal.

These usually need to be replaced after 10 years, and the engine had to come out to get to it.

Funny thing is the new 2900 scr only has a single 6.2 350 engine, and those guy all complain about power.

Thanks for advice and i will get these checked. The boat is for family cruising so i am not worried about high speeds as long at it gets us about with relative comfort and ease

Have you seen this boat? Are you SURE it's a 3000? I have never heard of a 3000 delivered with a single. Toi my knowledge the largest single they made was the 2800 SCR which did come with a 454 and a Bravo III, not a Bravo II. The 30000 came with twin 4.3's and 5.0's and Alpha Drives if I remember correctly. Check the actual badking on the boat itself. This doesn't sound right.

Jay
I had a 2800 with that engine bravo3, I had to use the trim tabs a lot, and also if a had 5 adults sitting in the back lounge area I would have to have a couple move to the front to get on plane then they could go back, that didnt happen to often(never had many people in the back anyhow)! when the boat was on plane it was really fast and handled nice, that was the only con on that boat everything else was great, I owned it for about 8 years, and i bought an other one after, because I was really satisfied with the boat and layout.
good luck

Thanks rodrigo,
I am looking forward to it as I only have a 17 ft boat at the moment but the 3000 seems a great boat although I am nervous about handling the size difference

Good Evening People. Listen, I have a 3000 SCR with twin 5.7L engines. I keep having trouble with them starting when it gets hot outside. They are just not getting fuel. A second symptom is when running the tack is showing much higher RPM's.
Any Idea's. I am thinking about putting in a second fuel pump to solve the fuel issue. I am thinking vapor lock from fuel tank to engine. The are throttle body fuel injected. Built in 2001.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks The Web 2

I bet it does. 5K is beyond the max rpm range for that engine. It sounds like you might be underpropped a bit. That would defininitely help with the hole shot, particularly under load, but will probably account for lower top end speed as well.
