Mercruiser buys their blocks from General Motors and marinizes them. The GM57LG might be the GM block, while C756899 sounds like the engine serial number from Mercruiser.

If you're looking for specs, start with telling us the Year and model engine and whether it is fuel injected or carb.

Thank you for answering I do not know any spec of this engine for now. I have those numbers I posted and the breather says it is 260V8. I will fallow the link above and see what I can find. The boat is a 1984 Sea Ray with model name 5.6 Seville Cuddy. I am looking for info to restore the boat to original condition and starting with engine specs. It is not running and been out of water from original owner for 6 years.

My boat is a Sea Ray Voat, 5.6 Seville Cuddy and Engine is Mercur 150ELPO horse power 150. That is what my Registration says. The numbers I typed in from above link says CL56899 and GMLG is incorect serial number. What could I be missing.

Sounds like you have an Mercury outboard motor not a Mercruiser inboard or inboardoutboard (IO)

If you could post some pictures of the boat and engine that would help us help you. The link I posted is for Mercruiser not Mercury Marine, so if you have an outboard it won’t help.

I am sorry but I am new at this. I am having trouble posting an image to this post. The icon at top of page for my reply only gives me a http// address. I do not see how to post my pictures. Me being 67 does not help. Do I send it as an attachment?

Default My Pictures

OK, thanks for your help and also instructions. I am a long time average restorer of hot rods but short on forum skills. I thank I uploaded my pictures correctly.
Please find my pictures attached. I am restoring a 1984 Sea Ray with a what I thank is a mrcruiser engine. from what I can tell it is a 5.7 or 5.0 letr 350 shev engine. That is all I know. The numbers I can find is:
Tag above starter First number is a C or a O, 0756899
Bell house number: 14093638 (38)
Left side of engine: GMS/LG(5 or s) GI
Intake: 14096244
The hour meter says 683.3 hours
Distributor numb: SAEJ1171
A lot of these numbers of s and a 5 are hard to read.
Thank you for taking time to help me with finding out the motor specs.

Nice looking boat. I had a 1993 Sea Ray 20’ bowrider with a Mercruiser 4.3. The engine was bad when I bought it so I bought a brand new Vortec longblock and installed it along with closed cooling. Your engine is a Mercruiser 5.7(350) which is rate at 260 HP as shown on the engine cowl. The link I provided earlier should help. Also under Documents of this site you will find the Mercruiser manuals for your engine and drive. Drive should be an Alpha 1 Gen 1.

Thank you for your info. I am new to forums. I will post a new message on trouble I am having with the engine. Getting the engine to run correctly is my first place I have decided to start. So I have a lot of questions s I hope I post them in the right place.

Thank You for your reply
