Default Injector pump 6CTA813-M3

Does anyone know where to get a rebuilt fuel injector pump for the 6 cylinder turbo Cummins engines?
Cummins wants $4K for a rebuild & over $8K for a new one !

It's ok, I think Cummings is barking up the wrong tree. I'm going to bring in another diesel mechanic for a second
opinion.

Default New Pumps Required

Apparently on very rare occasion the early Bosch P7100 develops what one expert calls a "low load retard issue" after 600 - 800 hours of operation. This means that under mid-range load the rpm pulses by about 150 rpm making them inoperable in the 950 - 1100 rpm range. Rebuilding doesn't work (tried that) apparently you have to buy new pumps. By changing from 4 hole injectors to 5 hole injectors we somehow brought out this condition. When you go to the 5 hole injectors (see Technical Services Bulletin) the Critical Parts List "CPL" changes and apparently the new CPL calls out a new injection pump part number. If anyone knows what that part number is please let me know.

Thanks for the report out Frenchie. Hopefully someone will be able to provide some feedback. Unfortunately, Diesel Maxums are not all that common.

Frenchie,

Though diesel Maxum's are not all that common the engine(s) used in them probably are. Here's where you want to go to ask diesel specific questions: http://boatdiesel.com/

LOL, thanks SS. I could have been clearer. Correct, those Cummins Deisel's are extremely common, just not commonly used in Maxum's and therefore we may have a forum with limited feedback on the subject.
