Default GM 305 5.0 temperature

Hey Guys ,
Just wanted to get your thoughts. Was very got here in Seattle yesterday 93 degrees. Had the boat out running across the lake and temperature went up barely past 175 maybe 180. Usually runs a little less or right at 175. Don't think I have seen it do this only had it 2 years but I think yesterday is the hottest I had it out. As soon as I came off plane it dropped to below 175 again. I think with the temps being as high as they were is what it is. I did let then engine sit and idle with fan on a few minutes before shut her down. I know 180 is nothing to worry about but also concerned about impellar failure has been on my list to change.

Anyone else see slight temp increase on hot days ?
Thanks
Sand

I prefer to use a IR temp sensor and take readings of the thermostat housing and exhaust components to get a feel for the helm gauges accuracy and have found it to be up to 10* higher than the IR readings.
