Default Fuel Tank Sending Unit

I read up on testing the Sending Unit and found the Fuel Guage to work when connecting the Purple to Ground. Once I pulled the Sending Unit out, the Guage seems to work like it should when I slide the float up and down.
Figure I should replace it anyway..
Looking online it appears there are options for ohms ratings, and several brands.
Any suggestions?

That’s a reed style sender and is supposed to be more accurate then the float arm style. Resistance is driven by the gauge and if single or dual helm.
