Default First post - Engine Beep - 2900 SE 2008

Hey all,

First post and a new boat owner at that.

Maxum 2900 SE from 2008. Consistently getting long beep when hitting over 2RPM. First it happened on the left and mechanic switched the Mercury Exchanger Heat and seems fine. But then ran it after the fix and now the right engine does the same thing. Won’t go over 2rpm and long beep.

Tried to find a relevant post but couldn’t so sorry if I’m double posting.

Links to beep code guide didn’t work either so if anyone has an updated one that be great.

Hope this is enough detail.

You didn’t say but based on the information you provided I’m assuming these are MPI engines, therefore the mechanic should be able to read the fault codes from the ECM. Sounds like it’s going into limp mode to protect itself. If you have Bravo drives you could have restricted water flow due to growth in the transom water hose, common issue know as Bravoities.
