Default FI vs Carbs

My 2004 5.0L has been reported to me that it needs to be replaced.
Options are 5.7 FI used, less than 100 hrs or
5.7 Carbs brand new
the new one will be $3000 more than the used, but I am afraid of the issues with FI.
any opinions or experiences?

Several boat articles have done comparisons with FI to carbs and for the most part you have a little more hp and quicker starts and that is it.

If it was me I'd save the 3 grand and go with FI.

Good luck

What 'issues' would an FI have? Easier starting? No carb rebuilds? No carb 'Tuning'? Fuel efficient?

I would prefer the FI but have the computer checked for error codes and have its health check, oil analysis, compression test, ...
