Default Engine wiring trouble

I have a Johnson 1988 GT 150 hpVRO V6. I am attaching a picture below, The brown wire in the picture only has a couple strands of copper holding it attached to the plug. Can I cut the plug out and rewire with heat shrink connections on all three wires, or try to pull the pins out and re-solder them? I do not know a part number I would use ti order another on, being how this is a 1988, or if one is available. Any advice? see pic attached
Thanks for your advice
