Default Engine ticking

Hi all my 5l mpi has developed a distinct ticking noise coming from the starboard side front of engine. I’ve take. The boat out 3 times since I thought I noticed a small noise. Each time I’ve gone out the ticking noise has increased. Can anyone help diagnose weather it’s exhaust leak, water pump etc?? New manifolds were fitted 2 seasons ago so they should be good.

Thanks

A tick is either an exhaust leak or valve train. A mechanics stethoscope should help isolate the noise.
