Found my 1997 catalog and the 2800 with a single 7.4 dry weight was 6633 lbs, so with twin your weight does seem correct.

Keeping your boat at home in the off season is nice. I know a lot of year round boaters who don't own trailers and keep their boats in the water or have them pulled for the winter. Plus you save the cost and maintenance of the trailer which can be spent on a couple lifts for inspect and wash & wax.

Thanks Mike and Moonriver. Feeling more confident with your guidance.

Yacht broker sez no problem. Tundra has V-8, 4 WD, clean shallow ramp, straight shot to the road and 1.5 miles to my house.

Mike, you might compare the advantage of a triple axle vs tandem axle trailer.

As well as the cons. The 2800 is under 29’ so the extra cost and maintenance of a triple axel should be part of the equation.

Please note the beam is over 9’ so this is considered wider than most states allow without a special permit for override. The short distance and non-highways decrease the probability of getting stopped.

Sorry for delay on updating. Last weekend closed on our new house in Cape Charles. 4 days work in NJ meeting with Lockheed Martin. Sold our house and did walkthrough inspection. We are under contract and have a few things to fix, but now they have to be done by a certified contractor, plumber or electrician.

Back to the boat. All going great to good. Sea trial all engines performed well with temps, oil pressure, maneuvering. Up on blocks for engine and full boat survey.
Port engine had low compression on two cylinders. He ran test twice just to. Ake sure as run earlier was good. Most had 175-180, with two down at 75 psi. Risers and manifolds only 4 years old and look good, but with cilinder work, decided lets replace them too so I have a reliable boat this summer.
Also need a new shower sump and mid cabin bilge replaced as the sea cocks stuck too, Macerator bad too.

Survey found no navigation or anchor light worked, no horn, no CO2 detector. No cracks in gelcoat anywhere and all bulkheads sound. Most every major compenent works.

Trailer options. No longer needed.

So Cape Charles Marina has a yacht center next door. For $315, I get boat hauled out, blocked, winterize engine, gray water tanks, head system and 6 months storage with 2-30Amp shore powwr. Then in March, a power wash and set back in the water. Swet deal!

Yacht broker had just found a new trailer for $6,000. So now I just saved a boat load! Will not have to worry about Truck capability right at the edge, nor boat storage in my yard or elsewhwere.

Plan on using savings for new vinal on ster; seating area and new VHF radio and sterioe system with bluetooth etc. will aslo redo anti-Foaling paint in the spring.

Spent last two days cleaining up the cabin, head and galley below (7 hrs).
Tightened all loose screw, allen head screw, window portal closure, cleaned it all.

Today spent 5 hrs. 3 cleaning the bilges ( dropped a good flashlight in the bilge. No longer works. Had to make like a pretzel to fish it out. Could not find the scrub brush onboard, so took a t-shirt rags and tied around a boat hook and cleaned lower bilge like a giant Q-tip.

2 hrs topside cleaning the helm, companion seat and rear seating lounge and deck. Pooring rain here and hose had a small leak so soaking wet Levis.

Man Im tired but it feels good to have a clean boat I can be proud of.
Besides my wife only saw her for about 5 min when we were still deciding.

Next week the boat is put on a trailer and taken to the Engine repair shop. I hope to meet a guy to take off the old name and put on the new design
Shenanigans with a 3 leaf clover added. And 2900 SCR on the aft small swim platform. He has a mobile service.

Will post pics once it is all done.

If your changing the name of the boat make sure you follow the rules.

To change the name of a vessel without consulting Poseidon is to invoke his wrath, so in order to change a boat's name, a traditional ceremony is used to appease the gods of the seas. The first thing that must be done when renaming a boat is to purge its old name from the Ledger of the Deep, and from Poseidon's memory.

Google it before you do it

Yes will do. I was looking at that ceremony on line a week or so ago.

LOL!!!!! I just changed the name. I don't pray to gods of Greek Mythology. (Science has no alter, and demands no fealty.)

Mike,
That haul-out, winterize, and storage is a great deal. That beats trailer maintenance all day long. Sounds like you are getting up close and personal with your new baby. That's the best way to set yourself a good baseline. Smart thinking getting the engine work done new.
