first check a simple thing...

take of your fuel filter, and turn it upside down in a can of glass....now you can see if you have water in your tank...if yes clean your tank and put the empty filter back......maybe install a seperator

greatz, ed

That is almost for sure water in the fuel. This happened to me last year right after I filled up at the local yacht club. I found out later after some questioning that the pump jockey had dropped the nozzle in the water!

Does it idle fine in neutral, or is it rough? Is it hard to start, or does it fire right up? If you leave the drive in neutral and advance the throttle SLIGHTY, does it still run fine or stall? Does this only occur when you slip it into gear? Does it behave the same in FWD and REV?

If I recall, there is an interupt that temporarily stalls the motor when shifting into gear. It SHOULD be for a split second and the engine should contrinue running afterwards. Just a thought.

Hi Guys,
From what you all have said i think there was some water in there? it ticks over fine out it in gear and it went along for about 30 sec then cut out wilst doing 6knots restarts ok, but sometimes stutters, the day before we had the ringo out on the solent for 4hrs with no problems at all?? sunday only 6 knots up the river for 2hrs very warm day 1/2 tank of petrol and stutters??
Any suggestions on what i should do?

You could try to put a bunch of Startron in there. Here is a write up from their site http://mystarbrite.com/startron/

Ethanol / E10 fuels increase the amounts of water and sludge in your fuel tank.
Star Tron breaks down this excess water and sludge to sub-micron size allowing it to be safely burned away during normal engine operation.
Therefore Star Tron prevents phase separation and fuel gelling, eliminating ethanol fuel problems.

I'm not sure if that would work. There are also companies out there that can take care of this type of situation as well.
