Default do you think it is possible

do you think it is possible to full up both tanks on my 1997 3000scr and go far a 66 mile trip and use a full tank on one side and only a half on the other?

I would think it is very possible. You have 150 gallons of fuel when both tanks are full, I have a 99 3000scr with twin 5.7 fuel injected.
Someone posted on here with the same boat that used a Flo Scan and came up with about 1 MPG at 3700 rpms, of course different conditions can apply but you should be able to safely do that trip twice.

yes i had 75 aside! and the one motor ate 75 and the other only ate 32-35....

i just think that is crazy! but a mpg would be pretty close. i was only tring to run 32-34rpms but i prob really wasn't running that because sometimes i have to hit my rpm gauge to make them move.

But anyways i just wanted to make sure that is even possible to have the motors be so far off on burning fuel.

I would fill both tanks full, then run them down until one of them reaches 1/2. Then fill both again and record how much each needed to be refilled. This would verify whether it is a fuel consumption or guage problem. Are you sure both are full and one is not just burping back at you? Just a couple of thoughts based on the info. provided.

Disregard my response, I read your question wrong. I thought you asked could you make it with one full and the other half. Shrew has a great idea. I also feel my starboard side is using more fuel, but may be a fuel sensor issue because my guage will bounce from emty to 1/2 when it reaches less than 1/2.

If you have one drive train consuming twice as much fuel as the other, I'd have it looked at soon.

Does one engine draw fuel from one tank and the other from the other tank?

What Phill said, if one is using twice the fuel as the other you need to have it looked at pronto.

I think that understanding of if/how fuel is transferred between tanks would be a good place to start. Could be a case of a faulty check valve in one tank.

sounds like one carburetor is running with the choke closed. Out side of a fuel leak, that about all it could be.

Unless you on the anchor down on one side...

thanks for all the help I will check all that stuff!

i doubt it is a fuel leak wouldn't i smell that? and i thought my boat was fuel injected but i could be wrong... i just got the boat this year and haven't got to much time to mess around with since it runs great besides that small costly problem.

Are you running the genny a lot? I'm pretty sure it will only pull off one tank.
