2001 3000SCR My starboard engine would not re-start today after running for about 30 minutes. It cranks, but will not start. Had a mechanic to come over to diagnose, he determined that it is the distributor igniter was not giving a spark. Problem is, he can't get to me for 2 weeks to replace. Has anyone had any experience in changing one of these ? Is it difficult?
I am assuming you mean the ignition sensor that is in the distributor, correct? To replace it remove the cap and rotor then 2 screws to remove the sensor plus the 2 wires on the out side of the distributor.
Do you have a merc manual to review the proceedure?
