Default Come on not another carb question

Hello all! Today the family and got the boat out for the first time in about a 2 years. New baby and a two
Year old , we weren’t up for it . Anyways 2 years ago after running high rpm and slowing down to idle, it would stall. After some troubleshooting with the forum, mmjr I think, helped me out and told r to look down the throat to see if it was flooding , it sure was, and rebuilt it the carb . After rebuild it did it a little but not everytime. Well 2 years later I’m at it again with the same thing . I was thinking about just buying a new carb maybe it’s worn out . So I called the local boat dealer told them my serial number and couldn’t really give me 100% answer on a pn, but she was able to give me a $900 dollar price on one . I don’t think I have an original carb, don’t even know if it’s the right one . Can someone help me out and point me to where I can go to see what was installed, and to see if there are any ALT PN carbs out there? Or did I just mess up the rebuild ? Sorry for the long post , yall always seem to come thru . Attached is Sn K199513 from engine, 1997 maxum 2300SR with the 5.7, as well as the carb pn that is on the boat now .

What’s the engine serial number? Is this a 2 or 4 bbl?

Better pics would help.
2bbl or 4bbl.
being a 5.7 I would think a 4bbl but looks like a 2bbl from what I see.
Could it be a5.0 instead?
Is it still flooding?
I would try going in and cking float level.

K199513 Is what i found on the mercruiser tag by the starter. It has a two barrel, but from what I’m reading, I think a 4b was factory??

What is on is a two barrel, from what I read it should prob be a 4. How do I confirm if it’s a 5.0 or 5.7. 5.7 is what I was told so I was running with that but yea. For flooding yes, from higher rpms, to idle it will stall and I have enough time to go pull the filter and see fuel going down the throat after it stalls from. Flooding

There are 2bbl 5.7s from mercruiser ... my 2003 is fitted with 2002 year engines from the factory (not uncommon) ... they are 5.7 / 250 hp with 2bbl carbs on B2 drives.

Anyway if you decide to rebuild, make sure to get the genuine mercruiser rebuild kit. I went through 2 or 3 aftermarket brand kits before finally getting it right with the genuine merc kit.

See the like from MercruiserParts.com for your carb.

https://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/...31865/2344/100

Holley make a 2 bbl marine carb you can use but will need to adjust the fuel line run.

Thanks MMwjr. I will check the link out when I get home . So , from what you all have gathered , safe to say the carb that’s on it now is the correct pn? Should I rebuild it again with a Mercruiser rebuild kit , find a new carb with same Pn or try and find the pn for the Holley and gothat route ?

looking at the second picture in post #1 you have the carb part number in the link is sent. Mercruiser just adds their prefix. you can rebuild again but be sure to clean un an ultrasonic cleaner and use carb pipe cleaners to rod out the passages or buy a rebuilt one if you are not sure how to do this.

BTY you can call me Mike

Thanks Mike. I’m pretty confident I did the rebuild last time ok even though it did hick up every once in a while . I’m on the fence buy a rebuild kit or another carb. The last time I rebuilt the only step I did not do is a ultrasonic clean as i didn’t own one, so maybe will spend some money on that. If I went and bought a carb, would something like this work? https://www.marinecarburetors.com/products/marine-carburetor-2-barrel-rochester-replaces-mercarb-3310-807312a1-898-5-7l-350 Or go to Amazon and try one of those ?

So , haven’t had to buy many boat parts . Is the carb that I posted a good place to buy, if I did decide to go with a replacement? Or should I just go factory or see which Holley would suit me ?

I never bought from them but would probably go that way over the Holley which won’t be a direct replacement.

Alright, well I couldnt let this defeat me. I ended up rebuilding it (again), but this time I went and purchased a sonic cleaner, and now im a believer. The dirt that was removed after the cleaner was done was unbelievable. Put it back together and it runs perfect. Thanks for everyone's help .
