Default Coil Issue on 3200 SCR

My coil went bad on my port side so we replaced both. (Mercruiser Bravo II 5.7)

Boat ran great first time out and then the 2nd and 3rd time out as I turned the key—nothing on the port.

Both times I tried limping home on the starboard and after giving it one more try while underway it started.

Any suggestions on what to look at next.

Are you certain it was the coil that was bad? Are the symptoms the same? Could be the ignition sensor in the distributor or a faulty connection.

The symptoms are different. The engine would turn over but wouldn’t start prior to the coil being replaced.

Now when I turn the key—there is nothing. And after being under power with the starboard engine it started—like 10 minutes later.

So it doesn’t even crank? If yes then check for 12V on both terminals of the slave soleniod when trying to start.

Water in one or more cylinder which prevents the engine from being able to turn. Since you engine does start after some time I doubt this is your problem.

On top of the engine next to the 50 amp breaker.
