Default bogs out at full throttle

Hi all. We are new to this while boat ownership thing. And need help. Any advice is welcome

We have a 94 maxum 2300sr. We droppes it in the water today and had serious problems. When we tried to put it to full throttle it would bog out and we'd have to kick it down to keep it alive. But we disengaged the prop and hit full throttle and it kickes up fine. When trying to go full throttle it wont go over 2000 rpm.

Help?!?

Check engine timing, base and advance.

Remove fuel filter/ water separator and pour the contents into a glass jar, let it settle and look for signs of water. Water will go to the bottom and gas on top.

When was the engine last tuned?

An engine can rev pretty easy without load.

When it's out of the water will it rev in gear? Caution remove prop to help reduce chance of injury also you must run on muff hooked to a hose to provide cooling. Be careful as the hose may not provide enough water to run at higher rpms for long, also suction may cause hose to collapse.

The fuel system was just serviced about a month ago But I'll check the filter tonight. Also Yeah it revs just fine when it's In gear.
