Best starting procedure for Maxum 2500 SCR Mercruiser 5.0

Hi all,

Has anyone got down the best Starting procedure for these boats/engines?

Been told to pump throttle 3 times in neutral, then push the throttle to quarter position and crack the **** out of it until it starts even if you have to push the throttle all the way..... that sounds excessive?

I always run blower before starting...

That does sound excessive. I start my 5.0’s by turning key on. Fuel pump should run for a brief moment. Place shifter Into throttle only mode. Pump twice and then crank. If she doesn’t fire on the first 3 to 5 revolutions. Turn off ignition and repeat process. Never had to crank the****Unless there was something else wrong
