6.2mpi 1999

my boat is a 1999 2800scr with the above engine was this engine available in 1999 or did it appear in 2001, i cant find another 1999 boat with the 6.2 mpi fitted only 2001 boats and onwards.

nope..the 1999 versions were fitted with a carbed engine ..usually the 7.4ltr big block engine...the 6.2ltr engine is basically a 377 ci. multi port fuel injected engine.....strong on torque and fairly easy on gas ..the mpi engine is great for cold starts and excellent for control of the throttle.......
combined with the B3 drive....it's a real dream for me to drive...It will run with the best of them for sure......I have the 6.2 mpi engine myself....love it.....so far so good..nothing has gone wrong with it and it's been very reliable...I have 176 hrs on the engine drive...

i will have to find out if my boat was re-engined i dont think it was.curious it only has 197hrs on the clock

Well found out the boat has been re engined apparantly the first owners had to have the 7.4 changed due to frost? i have run my merc scan tool, and this engine, it has only done 143hrs in maybe 5 yrs.i had to change the fuel pump 2 weeks ago as it decided to die on me during a river trip,lucky i was only a mile from the marina the old pump was running but not pumping fuel which explains the misfiring at high revs,all sorted now and running like a dream.
