Default 3.0L pull a adult skier?

Hello, new to this site and new owner of a 07 Maxum 1800 MX with the Mercruiser 3.0 the previous owner took me out and water tested before i purchased the boat but i have not been able to get out on lake yet. Its been raining every day after i bought it. Anyway wondering if this size motor will pull me on a slolum ski without problems. It will mainly be used to pull my kids around on a tube but would like to ski if possible. Im sure I'll find out soon enough! 😀 thanks for any help.

Mike

Should not be a problem. You might have to change to a lower pitch prop. Just be careful not to over rev engine. If it's an alpha drive you will be able to change prop while boat is in water. Good luck and have fun.

We used to ski off a 1750 Bayliner Capri with the 2.3L 130hp 4 cyl ford / OMC cobra, no problem, with 4-5 of us in the boat, but we were mostly lightweight teenagers lol

It’s possible, it just won’t be as zippy as a larger engine boat. Repropping with a 4-blade with a lower pitch will definitely help your hole shot.

I used to pull skiers with a 16 ft. open bow with a 2.5 mercruiser on doubles only, tried to single but just did not have the power to do it.
Just my 2c.
