Default 2005 se alpha 2 out drive gasket

On the water yesterday and the boat started to make like a clicking sound. Ruled out any engine problem. Stuck my finger in the out drive oil and it had some metal in it. I think it's the top of the out drive gasket. This is my first boat any idea what this will run me?

You opened the cap of the drive reservoir, stuck your finger in it, and your finger came out with metal shavings? If that's correct then I have to think that's a lot of metal to migrate all the way back to the reservoir. Doesn't sound very promising.

First step is to pull the drive oil plugs and see what comes out. If more metal then the drive has to come off and be taken apart for inspection. I'd guess 500.00 minimum.

Welcome aboard

Exhaust flappers can make a clicking noise if the rubber has been burnt off of them.

Metal in the gear lube is not good. The outdrive need to be drained, look for more metal shaving, water in the lube. Pressure test it and disassembled for inspection.
