Default 2004 2400SR Starter

Hello Everyone,

My maxum boat starter is now making a grinding noise when I try to start it. Does anyone have a suggestion if starter ti use on a 5.7 Mercrusier alpha 1? Is it difficult to change?

Use engine serial number to look up the correct starter. Starboard exhaust manifold may need to be removed to gain access.

I used to have a 2400 with a 5.0. I did change the starter myself. It was port side way under the manifold. It is blind work but can be done with patience and the right tools. I don't know if pulling the manifold would help....
