Default 2004 2000 Sr3 5.0 carbed merc

Hi All ,
Looking for service manual on engine. I saw the 1999 in documents. Is there one newer than 1999 ? Planning to rebuild carb so wanted service manual available .

Thanks
Sand

What carburetor do you have TKS or standard choke? 2 or 4 bbl? If standard choke manual #24 should be good enough.

Hey MM,
Thanks much have 2 barrel . I looked at different pics on mercruiser parts pretty sure I have standard choke carb 3310-864942A01 it has the big round choke on left side if you are at front of engine. The TKS shows the choke sticking out towards back with connector connection on back end, mine is on side. I ordered the sierra kit 18-7098-1 equivalent to 3302-804844002. Didn't really want to but needed a kit for this weekend. I saw some comments that the base gasket supplied is too thin and causes tuning problems. So this morning found a oem gasket at Ballard marine services. Finally found a place that stocks lots of mercruiser parts. Heading over there during lunch basket oem gasket I am using is 27-807982 1.

Question - The carb pic shows 2 gasket. Does that mean I need 2 gaskets to reinstall ?

Thanks much Sand

Call me Mike. I’ll have to do a little research to answer your question. BTY the TKS doesn’t have a choke but instead an enriching circuit in the carb that is soleniod activated.

Hey Mike ,
short answer bad gas
FYI after changing the rotor/cap, fuel filters, was looking at possibly rebuilding carb. Anyway decided to run her on secondary tank 5 gallons ran fine. Tried again next morning when she was cold same thing. Backer her into lake and kept on trailer she ran fine and idle and took the load. So pumped out old gas let some of it sit in glass jar no water but smelled strange. Guess it lost it's punch. I had been topping her off since gas gauge had been erratic.

Anyway thanks much
Sand

Glad that’s resolved, enjoy.
