Question 2003 1900 SC Propeller

Hi Guys,

I have recently bought a 2003 1900 SC with the Mercruiser 3.0L inline 4 and when it was pulled out of the water onto my trailer I noticed that the Prop was quite chewed up, especially at the tips. Its an Aluminium Prop, three bladed but I can't identify the Pitch or the Diameter.

I'm currently using the boat but am a little disappointed with the performance and guess that this is down to the state of the prop. At 4,500 rpm I'm showing 34 mph on the GPS.

I've fitted a pair of Smart-Tabs to the boat.

Looking to replace the Prop it would seem that the general advice seems to be for a 14" 21 Pitch Prop for the best all-round performance (possibly even a 19 Pitch)

I have in my shed a Stainless Steel Laser II Prop (inherited from a previous boat/engine) but this is a 14" Diameter 23" Pitch Prop and I was wondering how it would effect performance (OR the engine) if I fitted this prop to the package?

Would this be advisable or should I be considering investing in a new Prop?

welcome aboard

The SS one has too much pitch for your setup. Try mercruisers prop calculator.
