Default 2001 scr 3300 throttles

i have a 2001 scr 3300 and my throttles are very stiff, not sure why but i have the tension screws all the way out and they are still stiff. i am thinking of changing out throttles to a 4 lever shifter (seperate throttles/trans) has anyone done this, if so which shifter did you use

before you do that..go into your engine bay and see how tight the turn radiius is on the shift cables..it they are too tight...it will be a bear to shift in and out...when we first got our boat the shifters were really tough to shift in and out...both reverse and fwd was a bear....had the shop come out and adjust the shifters ..nothin...he went out and re-routed the cable and man..what a difference...you can just snick them into and out of gear now..plus they stay in place while running..so...do that before the expense of twin shifter levers...

I bought a 2001 3100 SCR 9 months ago that had throttles so stiff my wife couldn't get them in gear. It has twin Mercruiser 5.0 engines with Bravo 2 outdrives. I had it hauled out and the Mercury tech said whoever had been servicing before didn't know what they were doing. He retimed the gears by removing and reinstalling the input gear assemblies on both drives and now it shifts so easy it's like a new boat. It cost me $$$, but well worth it.
