Default 2001 3500 scr

I just purchased a 2001 3500 SCR with 454 engines with approx 440 hours on the engines and told the need valve jobs based on compression test. So I am looking at purchasing heads. What generation are the engines? A manual did not come with the boat and I have not been able to find one on line.

Under Documents of this site you will find mercruiser manuals. Why not get a valve job on yours? If you remove the valve covers you will find the part number on the head and that’s what you want to use to ensure you get the right ones.

The information you're looking for is in the Service Manual of the engine. Boats (irrespective of brand) are not sold with engine service manuals. You would have to purchase one for your year and model engine. I think I paid aroun $125 for a set of Mercruiser 496 manuals 10 years ago.
