Default 1997 7.4 Mercruiser will not start

Yesterday my 1997 7.4 quit and will not restart. We had been running at low RPM for 15-20 minutes and once out of the no wake zone took it up to about 2,000 RPM for a few minutes anf then up to 3,500. After about one minute the engine died and will not restart. Have fuel at the carb, replaced the fuel filter just in case, and have spark at the plugs. Any ideas?

it can only be one of 2 things...spark or gas....pull the plugs and do a compression check.....

Did you happen to bump the safety lanyard cut off switch?

No that was the first thing I checked. But it would have been fun to get back to the dock and then find out that is was the safety swith off. I don't think I would tell vessel assist about it.

PRoblem solved, Fuel pump was the culprit. Could move just enough fuel to make it look like it was working but not enough to keep the engnie running.
