Hi, I just acquired a 1996 maxum 18' boat.. Not sure of the model exactly.. Anyways, it's been sitting a long time and needs a decent amount of work.. I have the Chilton's manual to cover any of the engine and out drive issues but I'm having trouble figuring out the electrical for the boat itself.. Does anyone have links or info to the wiring diagram for the boat itself? I got the radio to work and I can hotwire the horn, but everything else is giving me grief.. Any help is appreciated thanks!!
If you go to the DOCUMENTS tab you will find 2 manuals for runabouts, 1 for 1996 and another for 1992 both have wiring diagrams. between these you should be able to figure things out.
It's the Documents tab just to the right of Photos.
You will probably need to remove all bulbs or even disconnect each light fixture and then reinstall/ connect then one at a time until you find which one is causing the fuse to blow. If you are lucky it may be obvious as soon as you start looking at each light fixture as there may be a black burn mark.
