Default Wiper issue

I was cruising home in a light rain recently and started the wiper. Rain stopped, I shut off the wiper, wiper kept on going. The switch is led lit and was kind of flickering on/off. As soon as we got onto berth and cut engine power, tried the switch and, the wiper stopped.

I suspect some sort of short in the switch, but am a beginner at electrical. Any thoughts?

May be a sticking contact in the park switch within the wiper motor. The park switch maintains power to the motor when the helm switch is turned off until the wiper is in the down position.

Oh, good thought. That seems more likely than the switch.

Fortunately, I just figured how to access that when the kids broke one of the interior panels!
