Will VesselView mobile work for a 2000 2800scr

I have a 2000 2800scr with a single 7.4 MPI and have been hearing great things about VesselView Mobile. I’d like to be able to use it on my boat but the compatibility stats published by Mercruiser do not list my boat/engine. Anyone out there with any experience with this issue.

I believe that the engine needs to be SmartCraft compatible to work with Vessel View.
