Waste/Water Level Sensors?

Anyone put waste/water level sensors in one of the 2800-ish range boats? I haven't unscrewed the wooden covers over either tank yet, but from what I can see sticking out the ends, it doesn't look like there's any port in the top of the tank to put either a threaded or a 5-screw flanged type sensor in. I can obviously use a hole saw to drill a large hole and just seal the hell out of a "flanged" sensor, just wondering if that's the right way to go about doing this.

The tanks should be poly. I've never seen a wooden cover on a holding or water tank, nor would I want/expect to.

There are no access ports on the top of the tanks. They make aftermarket ports that can be installed. They also make a sensor that is affixed to the outside of the the tank. I would go with the latter option.

My tanks are held in place by a wood block that spans the top center of the tanks with threaded tie down rods on two ends.

Yeah sorry I meant that the tanks had a separate cover on top of them that is the plywood contraption screwed all over the place, and that to see the tank itself I'd have to remove that wood.

Outside-the-tank sensors? I'll have to look into that...

I put the sensatank II sensors on my 2900's fresh water and waste tanks. They work fantastic. Just stick them on where-ever you want them to activate. It was tight, but I stuck them on the end of the waste tank. No need to lift the cover or cut holes.

They have a single, double and triple tank version.

I ended up installing the iSeries TankEdge unit on our Maxum, and put the external sensors on the fresh and holding tanks, and it works great.
