Default Speakers crackling

I am the owner of a Maxum 2700SE 2008
I am having a problem with the radio speakers crackling when you turn off the radio or the engine off.
I think it has something to do with the way the amplifier is being powered.
I could use some ideas as to what is causing this.

Is the amp a remote/external amp? Is it still getting power when the stereo is turned off? Does it only occur as the stereo or engine is beign turned off, or does it do it continously?

Sounds like a short or ground loop to me.

Could you please describe the audio set up you have? Has it ever been modified? Do you have external amplifiers? How longs it been happening - forever or recently and is it getting worse or staying the same?

Mike

To answer some of your questions. The amp is a remote amp (model 4-channel SEAAMP 400) which was installed by Maxum.
The power light comes on with the stereo and off with the stereo. The only time it crackels is when the engine or battery is turned off.
The system was factory installed and has never been modified. This crackling has happened since we bought the boat new.
The dealer has no clue. This problem has stayed the same.

Thank you for your help.

Based on your explanation:

I would take a look at how the radio accessory lead is wired. You could get speaker crackle if the radio accessory leads are not matched correctly to boats accessory power connector. A sure sign this is the case is if you have to reset the clock and radio stations every time you turn the radio on. Let us know how you make out!
