Default Recommendation for battery condition monitor?

We have a Maxum 4600... we have one key dissapointment... the original owner did not choose a battery condition monitoring system...

Currently we cannot tell the status of the batteries without starting the engines to see voltmeters. We need a system that tells us batteries current charge level, current rate of depletion, and perhaps an audio warning when it is time to recharge... I am currently running the genset much more than necessary to ensure I don't end up with dead batteries.

Xantrex makes a great line of products for what you're looking for. Everything from simple guages to systems that automatically fire-up the genny when load peaks or Ah drops.
