Default New ignition switch

Hello, starting on a new project, a 1997 2700 Maxum. It came without keys, and wires and the ignition switch hanging out. I'm going to buy a new switch. How many wires was the original switch, and does anyone have a wire diagram for the ignition switch?

Thank you

Welcome aboard.

Under Documents of this site you will find the Mercruiser manual for your engine. I’m assuming that year has the 7.4L. The manual contains the wiring diagram. The ignition switch should have 3 terminals; B for battery 12 V, I for ignition which powers the gauges and ignition system, S for start that provides power to close the slave soleniod.
