Smile Mercruiser Smartcraft & Vesselview options

Hey there all,

I’m new to this forum but from what I’ve been reading there are some really decent and knowledgeable folks on here

Would someone be able to help me out? I have a Mercruiser Mag 350 MPI Bravo 3 year 2008 serial 1A317357 with analogue gauges. All is factory spec but I’ve added a NMEA2000 network, a new Raymarine Axiom MFD with 3D transducer, GPS and new VHF radio but I want to be able to connect to the engine in order to get the running data. I’m not sure where exactly to start as I have read that these engines are Smartcraft capable, but I don’t know if that means the engine data connection needs an additional harnesses or plug to make it Smartcraft enabled. The reasons for this questioning is that my aim is to connect the engine to my Raymarine Axiom either via the NMEA2000 backbone or via Mercury Vesselview wirelessly and after hours of reading, it seems as though the only easy way to do this is to make the engine Smartcraft enabled. But I still haven’t been able to work out how I do this? Sorry if this doesn’t make total sense, I’m dyslexic so I find it a little hard to explain in writing sometimes.

Would any of you wonderful folks be able to advise?

Regards
Mike

I have done this with my boat. Same engines, 2003 vintage. I used the Mercury to NMEA 2000 Gateway device. I needed a cable to each engine, 2 junction boxes, a link cable and a dual engine adaptor cable. The pigtail on the engine is on the back port side.
