Default GPS installation on Maxum 1800

I am thinking about installing an GPS plotter and echo transducer. So a couple of questions below from a boat newbie.

1) Anyone with a Maxum 1800 that has installed a GPS?
Looking for picture examples of placement on the curved gauge cover. I think I will need a RAM arm to mount it good.

2) I am also interested of how the electric power wire was connected to the boat electric circuit. Looking for picture example on the wiring.

3) Also interested if anyone have a picture example of how the echo transducer cable was routed from the transom(?) into the engine room (bilge?). Was it through a drilled hole or any other alternative?

Thanks in advance

I believe a RAM is your best option for mounting. Power wiring is simple. The negative goes to the negative buss bar under the helm and in my case I wired the positive to 9ne of the unused accessory switches at the helm. If you decide to use a NEMA 2000 backbone to connect to other things such as a VHF radio the backbone also gets powered at one end so that it get power before anything else on the buss. As far as running the transducer cable I ran mine along side the steering and control cable that come up the starboard side.

Not entirely sure how you mean. Did you drill hole in the back and then ran the cable along the starboard side with the rest of the cables?

Yes I drilled a hole well above the water line to pass the cable connector and pull the cable through. I then sealed the hole with 3M4200 and covered it with a stainless steel clam shell cover.

Thanks, what device(s) besides GPS have you connected to your NMEA 2000 backbone?

My VHF radio so it can get GPS information. This gets used by the DCS, for emergency’s. Not sure if it is used outside of US.
