Fishing wires for a inverter - Maxum Boat Owners Club

I’m interested in installing an invertor to power a microwave and a 24” tv for my 2000 2400. I want to install the inverter in the closet by the stairs . But I’m not sure how to fish wires from the engine compartment to the closet. I’d like to know where the chases are but am a little worried about drilling holes on a boat.

You need to go onto the rear bed on the port side of the boat and look up. Remove the screws and the panel will come down. wires can be run in that area from the engine bay wall to the closet. Easy to drill the hole as well into the engine bay. also, you can install you inverter there as well as there is a lot of room there. I did mine this summer. Make sure to include chafe protection for the wires anywhere they are passing through a bulkhead. Make sure wires are secured so that pitching and rolling actions doesn't introduce movement. (movement leads to chaffing somewhere in the run).

Remember to run a long ground wire to your engine block/large bus bar at the same time as you run the inverter.

Thanks for all the reply’s. Where would be the best place to mount a TV? I have seen some mounted to the side of the cabinet and some mounted up in front by the speakers in at the bow.

In our 2800 the only spot we can think of that makes sense is on the flat wall above the port side of the aft bed. Nowhere else really works without compromising either the sleeping position in the fore bed or sitting at the dinette with your head against a TV. I don't know how that changes in a 2400 but I'm guessing not for the better.

I mounted my TV at the small closet with an adjustable mount. The TV can be seem everywhere in the cabin, just adjust the mount. power outlet is right beside the TV. This is on a 2000 2800 SCR.

I paired the inverter install with a full rewire of pretty much all of the powering of the boat. New electrical panel (lots of pics in there). Moved the starter battery to the starboard side for weight balance a shorter run to the starter. Added an ACR panel to auto-join the house to start battery for either shore charging or while under way (pics in there for that too). Lots more house capacity on a custom bracket. Then the inverter-charger itself. Microwaving long dinners on anchor or using a hairdryer after a shower and not having to care is awesome.
