Default Depth Sounder Alarm

I have a 97 Maxum 1900. My first time out I noticed that my depth sounder was occasionally dinging and it seemed to do that when I went into water 10 feet deep or less. But it doesn't seem to happen all the time.

What gives? Is there an option that I somehow turned on and then later turned off or defeated?

Thanks much.

Default Re: Depth Sounder Alarm

In a 97, you might have a seperate switch on the dash for Depth Sounder and Alarm. Turn the Depth Sounder on, then hit the Alarm button. Mine is spring loaded and not a rocker switch like the rest, so it will pop back after you click it. You should be able to turn it off that way by clicking through the alarm settings as SP described. Why it doesn't sound all the time, I couldn't say. mine only does whole numbers (4ft. 5 ft etc) so I could be in 9' 10" of water and it will read 9ft. Mine also doesn't seem to read more than 20 ft. of water. Sometimes mine doesn't give me a reading at all. I don't use the alarm feature.
