Battery Charger Issues

Hi All,

I'm having issues with my battery charger in my 1997 Maxum 3000SCR. It's giving me a fault indication that the manual doesn't seem to explain.

The charger is a Mastervolt Powercharger 12/20-3. The charger's power button is flashing red, which per the manual indicates a fault condition, however the issue indicated in the manual by a single illuminated load bar LED is simply labeled "-" (i.e. no explanation as to what the fault condition is). See photos attached.

I found a manual to a different model charger from the same company with a note suggesting the fault may be "no AC power", however I've checked the AC at the breaker and it's showing a smooth 120 volts going to the charger.

Any thoughts would be great.

I would first check for proper AC power at the charger. Then disconnect the output wires to the batteries to see if the fault goes away. If still showing a fault the charger has internal issues.

Thanks very much Mike. I checked the AC power at the charger and it was all good. It turns out it was a fault inside the charger. I replaced it with a new one this evening and everything is working great.
