Default new to the forum from ladysmith bc canada

Hi there! I just bought a new maxum 1800mx this summer. It is a perfect lake boat, but I would like to use it in salt too. Do I need a closed cooling system or could I just flush for a long time? I have tons of other boating questions. Sounds like a great forum. Thanks!!

Hello all, the name here is Seth. We purchased our first boat this past spring, an 03 Maxum 1750 SR. Absolutely love it, after a prop change and some fine tuning on the Merc 3.0. Mostly boat around the Eastern WA, Northern ID area.

welcome to the zoo...congrats on getting the new toy!...those are fairly nice boats...one bit of advice is to upon reciept...change all the fluids in the boat...engine oil, drive oil....etc....just to make sure everything is fresh...change the impeller....a small price for some peace of mind...
take a safety course...
and you won;t be albe to get the owners manual until you get the hin number....look here somewhere....I posted the address and phone number of maxum to get an owners manual on line..

finally ..never approach the dock faster than your willing to crash into it!!..

went and found the thread with the contact number here in the US

Thanks for the comments. The seller has told me he just had a full serivce done, so i will check and see what the oil looks like. It has not been in the water since it has been done, so engine should not have run much if at all. If he was telling porkies i will have it all changed.
I have the HIN.
I have an address for Maxum Gay St, Knoxville, TN
I will try the No you posted
I intened to go back to the UK for a 2 day course, although i have taken a Lifeboat Coxwin and Fast Rescue Craft Course while working on the oil rigs.
I really like your last it of advice, nice bit of hummor.
Thanks again.

Default Finally broke down and got a water cruiser

HEllo all,

I finally broke down and did it. I have always wanted a boat just never had the time and never stayed in one place for very long. I spent 20 years in the military and with all the moving around, I didn't see the need to purchase a water vessel. When I was younger, I grew up around them. My Grandfather had a 40 foot Trojan. ONe of those nice wood cruisers. He still has it but it hasn't seen the water in many, many years. I hope to get ahold of it one day. My dad has a 32 foot Chris Craft.
I retired not too long ago and have decided that I"m not moving again. So I broke down and got a small cruiser. In fact, I got it from one of the members on this site. It is a 94 Maxum 2400 SCR I've only had it out twice before the weather turned cold and I am very pleased with it thus far. I hope to get more enjoyment from it this coming summer. It has a few things that need to be tended too which I'll get too over winter.
If any of you travel the Cumberland River, keep a lookout for me.

welcome to the zoo...we have a few military folks here also...I'm an ex-AF puke...navy brat....and worked for the dept of the navy and various shipyards for 17 yrs....so..I can certainly impathize with your feeling of moving around...as a kid we moved every 2 yrs whether we needed too or not it seemed...so...my wife and I settled here in the pacnorwest ..hopefully never to move again..haha..
we purchased a 24ftr and then moved up to a 28ftr...next we're looking for a very nice 33ftr...

and finally ...thanks for your service to this great nation....it's greatly appreciated from myself and hopefully I speak for others here...

Default Wife is finally letting me get a boat

Hi All,
Just wanted to say hi. I am in the process of buying a 2001 2100SR. Looking forward to the world of boating. This will be our first boat. The boat has been garage kept with 260 hrs and is immaculate. We are getting it for just under 15K, I probably don't want to know but what do you think of the deal and the 2100SR overall. And by the way great site, it's nice to know I have somewhere to go to get advice.

welcome to the zoo....do you have a name other than half the alphabet??

sounds like a good deal..the first thing I suggest you do is other than change out all fluids and oils..but replace the impeller in the drive...it's mainly called the raw water impeller...
then take a boating safety course....if you have a family have them take it also....

good luck...post pic's here...we looooove pic's....
