Congrats. Doesn't look like you had any ice to worry about at least.

It's been so long since I've been on here, and so many of the active people have changed that I thought I'd post to the newbies thread and kind of "re-introduce" myself. Ive got a 2000 1800sr that I bought in 2006 (that's when I joined). I retired from the Army in 2008 (been in CA since 2000) and let my wife further her career as a correctional officer. That's when the boat started seeing less use, because she never got time off when the rest of the family did. She finally hung up her belt last summer when our oldest decided to go to college here in KY (I'm from here originally), because the wife was not gonna be 2300 miles away from her baby! So I moved the whole family back to KY until I could find a job and make the move myself.
Believe it or not, I couldn't sell my boat for $3000 in CA. When I saw the price for the same year/make/model here in KY (~$10K) the decision to get it here was easy, even though I had enough "things" to get here already. Pulling a boat across the country in February sure does get you some strange looks. I'm excited to finally be in a location where there are so many beautiful lakes in such a close proximity to where I'm living. Now that our boat will start to see frequent and regular use, I think I'll be on here more often asking questions and sharing what little knowledge I have.

Just wanted to introduce myself and thank those that have posted so I can learn. My name's Dave, I'm a grandfather and next month my wife and I will be married for 40 years. I live in SE Idaho and have a cabin in Island Park, ID (about 20 min from Yellowstone). Nothing fancy but it's a great getaway and only an hour and a half from my home. We had saved up some money and were going to build a deck off the second floor of the cabin but while out on a four wheeler ride a couple of weeks ago, my wife stopped and looked at me and said 'we should buy a boat instead of building the deck' then rode off. I was a bit surprised but I liked the idea. We looked around and saw several that required more work to fix up than I wanted to do. Then we found a 1996 Maxum 1700SR in Utah that had been very well taken care off. It only required a little refinishing and now it looks amazing. We took it out and it runs great and sounds very solid. I've looked all over trying to find more information on my Maxum but there isn't a lot out there that I've found. My wife asked me how big the gas tank is and I had to tell her I thought around 30 gallons but I can't find anything online to prove that. If anyone knows where I can find basic information on this boat I'd appreciate knowing. Anyhow, Thanks for this site and for all the great reads I've gone through.

Hello Maxum Lovers, My name is Minh from Richmond Virginia. I've been a Maxum owner, an 1800SR bought new in 2000. I used to take my 3 kids tubing and wakeboarding when they were little. Now that the kids are at college, I'm using it to go fishing in rivers and the Bay every week. I wasn't aware that Maxum went out of business, nor that there was a website dedicated to Maxum owners. I'm glad to have found this site and look forward to interact with you all. Thanks.

Hi there!
My name is Kevin and I am in the process of buying a 1999 3000 SCR.
I've been a boater my whole life, and grew up in Phoenix Arizona. My Fiance and I just relocated to Jacksonville Florida where we purchased 2 acres of waterfront property with a dock.
We brought our 1987 Wellcraft 210 Classic with us from AZ and all was well until an issue with high water pressure during a motor flush filled the engine with water. It sat for a month full of water before I discovered it, so, bye bye motor.
We have decided to upgrade, and are really looking forward to enjoying the rivers and ocean around here with a genset and air conditioning!
We sea tested yesterday, found a few issues which the seller is fixing, and hopefully will be taking it next weekend. The boat is in Port Canaveral, so we're gonna cruise her up the intra coastal to home.
Though this is my first post, I've been lurking and reading and learning. Got the manual that was posted here, and I knew more about the electrical and plumbing than the owner or surveyor did.

Kevin welcome aboard.
Port carnival, I was there in June on a cruise out of Baltimore.
From the pictures she looks clean, enjoy and let us know if you have any questions.
PS what did you do with your old boat?

She is super clean. Needs a coat of wax, and a few canvas snaps that need repair. The fridge doesn't work, but I think it is a corroded switch inside the fridge. The condensate pan for the ac needs to be cleaned and sealed and painted. Fairly normal stuff for a 15 year old boat.
I haven't fully decided what to do with the old boat. She's in great shape, except for the shot Merc 350. Know anyone interested?

Not off the top of my head. At that age a boat is only worth the engine, drive, and trailer but not the sum of the 3.

My thoughts as well. I think I'm going to toss it on Craigslist and see what happens.

Hi All
Nubie to Maxum here not new to boats, I have owned all sorts of boats from a Kawasaki jetski to a 32" flybridge cruiser
I don't actually own a Maxum but am looking at buying one, I have searched the interwebs to try and find model information on the one I'm looking at but haven't been able to find anything. I have found photo's of the same model boat but they had no model information.
I was hoping that somebody here might be able to help, please see the attached photo's
