Default New Owner

Hello. My wife and I have just purchased a 1996 Maxum 2400 SCR. We have been boat owners before. Just sold a 20' Glasply in order to purchase the Maxum. We also had a 2958 Bayliner. Our Maxum had been owned by a couple for the last 20 yrs. Unfortunately due to age/health issues they reluctantly decided it was time to sell.
The boat has been sitting for a few years without a good cleaning and it shows. There are a few minor..hopefully..mechanical issues. We are fortunate that friends of ours had a 1994 2400 SCR before selling it recently to move up. We are getting lots of great input from them to any of our questions. That being said it is always nice to have members of a forum such as yours to go to for any questions/ideas.
We look forward to being part of the Maxum community.

Welcome aboard!

Be sure to replace the impeller and all fluids. That old fuel may need to be pumped out and disposed of.

We will be giving it a complete going over in the off season including getting rid of the fuel. I am fortunate that my son is a mechanic with an auto dealership so it makes doing any mechanical work a whole lot easier! The boat did not come with a trailer so if anyone knows of a 7500-8000 lb one for sale I would be interested.

Thanks neverthesame. I have found a trailer for it. Before loading it I took the advice of some friends and installed slick boards. I will never know how much of a difference it will make between carpet and the boards but now was the best time to do it.
