New owner to a 2006 Maxum 1800 SR3, Mercruiser 3.0 135 Hp, 3 blade AL 21" prop and a newbie to boat life. So look forward to many questions
I am located in Sweden so please excuse my English, especially the boat language which is new to me.
The purpose with the boat will be to use it for day trips including enjoining the water, swim and water sports (tubing, water skies).
Some
history of the boat I purchased 1 week ago.
- 1 previous owner since 2007.
- 80h run time.
- Interior in good shape.
- Has been winterized all years by the local marina.
- Bottom is painted.
- The previous owner have added a depth gauge (in hull). He was not satisfied with how it worked.
Observations made on the first trip
- Heavy in the back, takes forever to plane. Seems like an issue with this boat design after reading on the forum. I have seen some remedial actions like switching prop and using smart tabs. So will look further into that.
- Some wear on some parts on the boat which is to be expected (gauge hood, rubber sealing).
- Difficulties to trim up and down. Seen some previous issues on the forum.
- The horn is not working, I do not see the need of use but I will investigate and try to fix it.
For the issues and questions I will start separate threads. But for now, I just wanted to get an introduction out there and I am glad to be part of this Maxum members forum.
